Confidence for people managers: the simple secret recipe for success

The transition from being a individual contributor or sole trader to a people manager can feel overwhelming. But there's a simple recipe for success.

It's the number one thing that most of my clients come to coaching for - more confidence.

Often the impetus is that they are feeling the effects of a lack of confidence in their career and/or people leadership, but it can also mirror what's going on in their personal lives, too.

That sense of it being a bit like a precarious rock climb for an inexperienced enthusiast - exciting, but they are only focusing on the current hold or one move ahead; going from one hand or foothold to the next, and hanging on by their finger nails.

In some instances, that can look like my client's having the awareness they could be achieving more if they just felt a bit more confident, skilful and clear, and a bit less self-doubting.

In others, it can get to the point of sleepless nights, Sunday night dread, a loss of passion for their career, exhaustion, procrastination, a lack of boundaries and life balance, low self esteem, easy overwhelm, stress and general unhappiness.

Whichever is more relevant to you, there is a very simple recipe that can help you to boost your confidence, and I've summed it up in my Confident Leadership Framework™ for people managers.

❓What does each area of the framework mean to you?

❓Where can you get an easy win?

❓What about the rock climber analogy do you relate to, or maybe there's another more fitting metaphor for you..?

Over my next six posts, I'll be exploring this framework in bite-sized chunks and helping you to make a positive move forward in each area.
